Darksaber

The Darksaber was an ancient lightsaber created by the Jedi in the age of the Old Republic. The weapon came into the possession of Clan Vizsla after their Mandalorian ancestors stole the device during a chaotic lapse in power in which they claim the Republic government had temporarily fallen. Over the centuries the Darksaber was passed down as a family heirloom amongst the Vizsla's and by the age of the Clone Wars, Pre Vizsla had ownership of the antique saber.

History[]

The Mandalore Plot[]

Pre Vizsla, who was the leader of the splinter terrorist Death Watch group, wielded the saber in combat against Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi on the planet Mandalore's moon Concordia. Kenobi had been sent to uncover and apprehend the Death Watch terrorists who had engaged in numerous acts of seemingly random violence in an effort to bring down Duchess Satine Kryze leader of the pacifist New Mandalorians who the Death Watch saw as traitors. During Kenobi and Vizsla's brief encounter the Mandalorian showed considerable skill in confronting Kenobi but in time the Jedi Master had him on the ropes. It would only be through the intervention of Vizsla's soldiers that Kenobi would be forced to retreat.

A Friend in Need[]

Vizsla used the weapon again against Ahsoka Tano in a brief duel after Tano escaped from the bonds of his Death Watch guards. At the end of the battle, Ahsoka destroyed his jetpack, forcing Pre to quickly throw it off of him before it exploded. Using that moment of distraction, Ahsoka escaped with Lux Bonteri in a speeder.

Shades of Reason[]

After betraying Darth Maul and Savage Opress and putting them in prison, the two escaped their cells. Darth Maul challenged Vizsla to a battle, during which Pre used various weapons, but mostly his Darksaber. Maul eventually defeated him and decapitated the Death Watch leader with his own Darksaber.

Son of Dathomir[]

After Darth Maul escaped the Spire on Stygeon Prime with the assistance of the Mandalorian Super Commandos. They recovered the Darksaber and gave it to Darth Maul.

Characteristics[]

The Darksaber itself had a relatively flat blade which appeared to be black in color. The edges of the blade however seemed to have a white or grayish glow. The weapon's hilt was similar to that of a vibrosword which added to its irregularity along with the fact that the blade of the Darksaber seemed to be more in line with an ordinary sword because of its point. Upon coming in contact with another energy blade, the Darksaber emitted a "twang" or whistling sound as opposed to a usual clashing sound.
