A Mortar Launcher was a type of heavy weapon that was manufactured by Merr-Sonn, Inc. and utilized by clone troopers of the Republic during the Clone Wars. The weapon could be securely fastened on a clone trooper's back, being light enough to not compromise the trooper's movement.
It mostly saw action during the Battle of Umbara, as its ability to bomb any enemy positions in entrenched areas was significant to the Republic's invasion. They enabled the clones to fire the mortar rounds further without exposing themselves to enemy contact.
