Jesse, designated CT-5597, was a clone trooper and later ARC Trooper of the 501st Legion who fought alongside Rex, Kix, and Hardcase. He was described as a proud soldier of the Republic, which led to the addition of the Galactic Republic emblem on his face and helmet. Prior to the Battle for Anaxes, Jesse was promoted to the rank of ARC trooper lieutenant.

He wore the emblem of the Galactic Republic on top of his helmet and had it tattooed on the top of his head as well. His phase II armor bore similar markings but was recolored a darker shade of blue. Jesse's ARC Trooper Armor wore colors of the 501st, and he had a Kama, Pauldron, DC-17 Hand Blaster, but he used a DC-15S.

Jesse partook in the Battle of Umbara along with the rest of the 501st Legion. He survived the many assaults and fights alongside Rex, Fives, Kix, Hardcase, Tup, and Dogma and was led by Jedi Master Pong Prell. Jesse took part in many of the major engagements with the umbarans, including an engagement with some allterain canons. Jesse helped Rex distract the cannons while Fives and Hardcase stole some local starfighters to help with their victory.

After a while, the clones got suspicious about pong Krell and after, he didn't let them use the starfighters to attack the enemy command ship. So the clone decided to take things into their own hands, and Jesse accompanied Fives and Hardcase on the mission. After an engagement with some droids on the ship, they destroyed the ship, but unfortunately, Hardcase lost his life, sacrificing himself to destroy the ship. When Fives and Jesse got back, Pong Krell decided to have them executed.

Lucky for Jesse, the clones couldn't kill them as they didn't think they did anything wrong, but they were not allowed to go to battle. Jesse and Fives told Rex about the concerns they had about Pong Krell being a traitor and after Rex with the rest of the 501st and 212th. They decided to put Pong Krell under arrest. Rex freed Jesse and Fives from the detention cell, and they confronted Pong Krell. After a small battle with Pong Krell, Tup eventually stunned Pong Krell, and the clones put him under arrest. Later the clones decided to execute Pong Krell, but Rex couldn't do it, resulting in Dogma taking Fives's DC-17 Hand Blaster and shot Pong Krell instead.

Plan of Dissent[]

Jesse, flying an Umbaran starfighter in a space battle

As Jesse continued to complain about Pong Krell's suicide mission to directly attack the Umbaran Capital, he proposed that another idea be formed. After agreeing to Fives's plan of using the Umbaran starfighters to destroy the Umbaran supply ship, Jesse was eager to join in.

Although Fives's idea was denied by Krell, he, along with Hardcase and Fives, decided to continue with the plan. While mocking and criticizing Hardcase's poor piloting skills, Hardcase ended up causing severe damage in the hangar, causing Krell to order the lock-down of all Umbaran starfighters.

Still sticking with the plan, regardless of Krell's orders, Jesse agreed to join the two troopers on a mission to destroy the Umbaran supply ship. As the three flew off, they evaded detection and successfully infiltrated the supply ship. However, they were soon identified by a large group of B1 Battle Droids, which began to attack them. After an alert was sent throughout the supply ship, ray shields began to appear, blocking the entrance to the engine room.

Seeing that there was no safe means of escape, Hardcase departed from his starfighter, causing Jesse and Fives to try and stop him. Hardcase told them to leave him, and he pushed a large missile into one of the reactors, causing the ship to explode along with him. Luckily, Jesse and Fives got out alive.

Aftermath[]

Later, back at the supply base on Umbara, Rex and Tup congratulated them for their success. However, they were soon confronted by Appo, who informed them that Krell wished to see them immediately. After Krell learned it was Fives's own plan to destroy the supply ship, along with the disobeying of his orders, Jesse, alongside Fives, were scheduled to be court marshaled and executed.

Carnage of Krell[]

Fives Jesse firing squad-COK

Fives and Jesse face the firing squad.

Originally, Jesse and Fives were to be killed. Though Rex attempted to convince Krell it was his fault, Krell ordered a line of troopers, including Kix and Tup, to execute them under the orders of Dogma. Before the firing squad pulled the triggers, Fives said Krell was using Dogma and Rex and that he had betrayed them. The squad fired but intentionally missed. He and Fives participated in the arrest of Krell.

Once Tup had stunned Krell, Jesse and the rest of the troopers took him back to the Umbaran Airbase, where they held him in the brig below. Once there, Rex questioned Krell why he would intentionally kill his troops, to which Krell responded he saw the clones as nothing but expendable pawns. He also revealed he had foreseen both the Jedi Order and Republic being destroyed in the war, with a greater power rising to take its place. Finally, the reason he had used such reckless strategies in battle was that he intended to sabotage the Republic's invasion of Umbara to become Count Dooku's new apprentice. The next part of his plan would take place when the remnants of the Umbaran Militia would retake the airbase, freeing Krell.

Back on the main level of the airbase, clone sergeant Appo reported that Obi-Wan Kenobi's battalion had taken the capital city, but the remaining Umbarans were moving towards the airbase. Jesse, Rex, Fives, and Tup all realized that if Krell were freed, he would give the Separatists all the crucial Republic information. Left with no choice, they all agreed Krell was too dangerous to be kept alive and had to be executed.

Returning to Krell's cell, Rex prepared his blaster and ordered Krell to get on his knees facing away. But Krell taunted Rex, telling him he did not have the strength to kill him. But, using Fives's pistol, Dogma shot Krell through the back, killing him instantly.

Shortly after, Republic reinforcements arrived at the airbase, bringing word that Obi-Wan's forces had routed all Umbaran holdouts and secured all sectors. Umbara was under Republic control.

The Bad Batch[]

"So I get what makes the others unique, but what's so special about Hunter?"
"He can put up with the other three.

―Jesse and Kix, on Clone Force 99[src]

Later in the war, Jesse was promoted to the position of ARC Trooper. He was a participant of the Battle for Anaxes when Jedi Generals Mace Windu and Anakin Skywalker ordered Captain Rex and Commander Cody to form a small trooper squad to go behind enemy lines infiltrated the Separatists Cyber Center. Rex and Cody recruited him and Kix, in addition to an experimental unit: Clone Force 99.

During their approach to the Cyber Center, their Gunship was shot down, and a legion of droids subsequently attacked them. The "Bad Batch" took them head-on. After they targeted the Cyber Center, they took them head-on and then extracted data of the algorithm being traced from Skako Minor and ARC Trooper Echo, who was reported dead at The Citadel. They then left the center and returned to Republic territory.

Unfinished Business[]

Jesse was present at the planning base of the attack on the Separatists assembly complex, where General Windu suggested moving their forces to the assembly complex. He then participated in the combined attack on the complex to overtake it.

The Phantom Apprentice[]

Maul interrogates Jesse through the Force for information on Ahsoka Tano.

During the Siege of Mandalore, Jesse fought with the 332nd Company to secure the capital city of Sundari before renegade Sith Lord Darth Maul could escape. Jesse led a squad to reinforce the city under level entry point on C-deck when his squad was attacked by Maul and his Mandalorian Super Commandos. Maul went through the Clone Troopers one by one, demanding to know about their adviser, former Jedi Padawan Ahsoka Tano. Maul reached Jesse and, sensing that he was older than his comrades, took him captive.

Held by Mandalorians Gar Saxon and Rook Kast, Jesse defiantly told Maul that he wouldn't tell him anything. Maul disregarded him, sensing that the galaxy would soon change as part of his master's plan. Jesse refused to believe him and repeated that he wouldn't cooperate with Maul. To get the information he needed on Tano, Maul invaded Jesse's mind with the Force, forcing him to give up everything he knew about Tano and her past.

Later on, Maul brought Jesse to the Sundari Royal Palace, where he awaited Ahsoka Tano, Commander Rex, and Lady Bo-Katan Kryze of the Mandalorian Nite Owls. Bo-Katan attempted to shoot Maul, but he deflected her attacks and brought her to her knees. But Maul did not come to fight; he wanted to speak with Tano. As a show of good faith, he released Jesse back to his comrades. Jesse apologized to Tano and Rex, admitting that he told Maul everything he knew about her. Meanwhile, Maul's forces attacked the Republic as a diversion while he spoke with Tano alone.

Maul offered Tano a chance at defeating Darth Sidious and stopping his plans for galactic domination. Tano refused and dueled Maul, narrowly defeating him on the city's upper rafters. Meanwhile, Maul's forces viciously attacked the 332nd Company's troopers but were soon repelled by Bo-Katan and her Mandalorians. Saxon desperately requested reinforcements, but Maul left them to die as he fled Sundari. But Tano successfully captured Maul, with Rex and the Mandalorians taking him into custody.

Victory and Death[]

"Commander Rex, you are in violation of Order 66. I accuse you of treason against the Grand Army of the Republic. You'll be demoted of rank Commander and subject to execution alongside the traitor, Ahsoka Tano."
"...Yeah, I didn't much like being a commander anyway.

Rex attempts to reason with Jesse to save Ahsoka Tano.

Following the siege, Jesse accompanied Commander Rex and Ahsoka Tano back to Coruscant with Maul as their captive. But when Supreme Chancellor Palpatine issued Order 66, Jesse and the rest of the clones were forced to turn on their commanding officer. Tano narrowly escaped and freed Maul as a diversion while she sought answers.

Having learned about the inhibitor chips embedded in the brains of all clones that forced them to comply with Order 66, Tano captured Rex and removed his chip. Now free of the chip's influence, Rex aided Tano as she attempted to flee the ship, now forced out of hyperspace when Maul crippled the cruiser's engines. The cruiser was caught in a nearby moon's gravity with no power to break free. Jesse sent the 332nd Company to the main hangar to cut off Tano and Rex's only escape. When Tano and her droids R7-A7, RG-G1, and CH-33P accessed the hangar doors, Jesse and his men were there waiting for them. They streamed in and cornered them in the control room.

Rex prepared to fight their way out, but Tano refused to kill all the men she'd once served with. Sensing how deeply conflicted Rex was, Tano reassured him that their lives still mattered to her. She came up with a plan: Rex presented Tano as a hostage to Jesse and his men and ordered them to stand down, claiming that she should be exempt from Order 66 as she was no longer a Jedi. Rex tried to reason with Jesse that they could still decide for themselves if they wanted to kill Tano.

Jesse hesitated for a moment but decided that it demanded Tano's death if the order came from Palpatine himself. He accused Rex of treason and threatened his execution alongside Tano. Rex chose to stand with Tano and defended her. Upon receiving her signal, the three droids dropped the hangar's elevated platforms, sending Jesse and his men falling to the crew pits below. Rex and Tano made a break for a Nu-class shuttle, but Maul had reached it first and stole it. As the Sith attempted to flee, Tano used the Force to pull the shuttle back while Rex covered her from blaster fire. Rex was soon outnumbered by the other clones, taking several hits. Tano chose to let Maul escape so she could save Rex.

Death and burial[]

Jesse's helmet mounted over his grave.

As the doomed Republic cruiser descended towards a barren moon, Tano and Rex searched the maintenance deck for a ship they could escape in. RG-G1 and CH-33P continued to move the platforms up and down to their advantage until the clones discovered them; Jesse ordered the droids destroyed. The clones were then strewn about the hangar as the ship violently rocked and broke apart in the moon's atmosphere. Amidst the chaos, Tano and Rex successfully escaped in a Y-Wing Starfighter. Unable to save the crew, they watched helplessly as the cruiser plummeted to the surface below. Jesse and all clones aboard perished in the crash.

Afterward, Tano and Rex landed outside the wreckage and buried all of the clones, including Jesse, leaving their helmets as grave markers.
