"Master Kenobi, Mandalore's violent past is behind us. All of our warriors were exiled to our moon, Concordia. They died out years ago."
Prime Minister Almec[src]

Mandalore was a planet located in the Mandalore system of the Mandalore sector of the Outer Rim and it was known to be the homeworld of Mandalorian culture. Mandalorians were known throughout the galaxy as fearsome warriors and their armor was strong, well-known and iconic.

Description[]

Sundari Desert

Mandalore's surface.

The inhabitants of the planet, the Mandalorians were known for their warrior and war-worshiping culture.

The surface of the planet was once covered with grassy steppes and there were plenty of other plants on the planet, probably there was water on the planet, but thanks to a lot of warfare, the surface of the planet was only covered with deserts and sandy steppes.

The deserts of Mandalore were covered with white sand. It was also due to the many wars that the planet had a low population.

The air remained breathable on some level, but the surface of the planet has already become so uninhabitable that its inhabitants have been forced to live in cities covered with bio-domes.

The original capital of the planet was Keldabe, but it was destroyed in a civil war, so its new capital became Sundari. There were also plenty of smaller covered towns and craters around Sundari. Cities could also be seen from space.

Mandalore was 9,200 kilometers in diameter. The planet orbited its star in 366 standard days and turned its circle around its own axis in 19 standard hours. The planet was located in the Mandalore system in the Mandalore sector on the Outer Rim. Mandalore had only one known moon, the Concordia.

Mandalore was rich in a rare mineral the beskar from which the Mandalorians made their armor. The beskar was said by some to be so resistant that even the lightsaber could not cut through it.

Mandalore was inhabited by an animal, the Shriek-hawk, which the Death Watch also used as its own symbol.

History[]

The ancient mandalorians fought plenty of wars with the Jedi, which was visible on the surface of the planet during the Clone Wars. After the fall of the old republic, members of the Clan Vizsla stole from the Coruscant Jedi Temple the weapon of the first Mandalorian Jedi, Tarre Vizsla. The weapon called Darksaber, which then became a symbol of power and a symbol of the person leading the mandalorians and uniting the clans.

Clone Wars[]

Prior to the Clone Wars, Mandalore established a new, peaceful government known as the New Mandalorians. The government's first act was to exile all its warriors to the planet's forest moon, Concordia. In 21 BBY, the warriors were believed to be extinct until the rogue splinter group, Death Watch, threatened to attack Mandalore, under the leadership of Pre Vizsla and the backing of Count Dooku, to reinstate its original warrior culture.

Pre Vizla, Bo-Katan, Savage Opress and Darth Maul toghether formed the Shadow Collective with various criminal organizations like the Pyke Syndicate, Hutt Clan and Black Sun. Together they overthrew the New Mandalorians' Rule.

After a series of events, Maul returned to Mandalore and took control of the planet again. After the Siege of Mandalore, Maul fell and the planet was liberated from his rule. After the fall of the Republic and the Jedi Order, the planet fell into the hands of the Galactic Empire.
